We’ve Got A Fuzzbox And We’re Going To Use It, or Fuzzbox for short, are celebrating the release of their brand new comeback single, Let’s Go Supernova! The single is launched today, November 18th 2016, to mark their return to recording they are also heading out on a full UK tour, as special guests of The Wonder Stuff, which will be their first full tour since 2010. In the past Fuzzbox were a band you just couldn’t pin down, veering between the punky fuzz of Rules And Regulations and slick pop of Pink Sunshine, so what does the latest incarnation of Fuzzbox have in store for us?
Let’s Go Supernova! kicks in with an enthusiastic refrain before you hit the first verse and then the chorus just hooks you in, the chorus on Let’s Go Supernova is so damn infectious it just lodges itself in your frontal lobes and refuses to leave, when you couple this with the fact that every element on this single, from the sparkling keyboards and driving bass to the signature fuzzy guitar, is married with a glorious vocal delivery and a wonderful glam rock stomp, you have a perfect and infectious single that I’ve been playing on repeat since the download dropped into my inbox. Let’s Go Supernova! isn’t a single that’s going to change your world, but I can guarantee it’s one that will improve your day the second you play it.
Let’s Go Supernova! is the kind of single that you rarely come across, it’s a perfectly balanced blend of it’s elements, there are traces of punk and alternative from their fuzzy roots, which sit happily alongside elements of rock and electronica, and it’s all polished off with a perfect pop sheen. This is the first recording made by the current line up of Fuzzbox, and it’s quite simply one of the best things I’ve heard this year, and as 2016 is drawing to a close I can say with some confidence this is will be my favourite single of 2016. On the strength of this release, and the live show I caught earlier this year, I recommend going supernova and then heading down to catch them on their upcoming tour.
Let’s Go Supernova is available via iTunes, and is still available via the Fuzzbox Pledge Music campaign here
