Out Of Control - Self Released
Chaos 8 unleashed their brand new four track EP, Out Of Control, a few days ago, a release that coincided with their appearance at this year’s Rebellion Festival, that follows up on their two studio albums, 2014’s Burn and 2016’s Cause And Effect. Chaos 8 have now unveiled their latest EP in the midst of their European tour dates, a tour that will see them taking their incendiary live performances to Germany and France as well as the UK festival circuit. Their new EP also serves as a taster for their forthcoming full length that is set to be released in the new year, the Out Of Control EP can now be purchased direct from Chaos 8, via their Facebook page, as well as being available digitally via iTunes and Spotify.
The initial impression of the EP comes from Darkness & Dust, a track that hits you with their trademark in your face industrial punk, from the opening sample the full tilt soundtrack grabs you by the throat and demands you attention, there are only a few seconds calm before the sinister and hypnotic track The Witch brings another dimension to the Out Of Control EP. The EP’s title track strikes you with absolutely pulverising riff that is an intense and perfect storm, whilst Burning Inside brings things to a climax with their most danceable track to date. Each track on Out Of Control has brought a different aspect of Chaos 8 to bear to create an absolutely stunning EP. The combination of the thunderous beats and the wall of noise guitars are set against keyboards that add a dark undercurrent, with the whole package topped off by Beki Straughan‘s mesmerising vocals.
The release of Out Of Control is easily Chaos 8‘s heaviest, and for me their best, release to date, they are a band that occupy a unique spot in the UK’s punk scene, there really is no one else out there delivering anything else quite like Chaos 8‘s dark and stormy soundtrack. They blend the darker and heavier sides of punk, industrial and post punk to create a truly apocalyptic EP, one that is the perfect soundtrack for the precarious state of the world right now.
