Sheer Terror Unleash “Squat Diddler” Single
On the eve on their May 2026 European Tour, NYC's SHEER TERROR have released their new single, Squat Diddler, that…
Dissolution Sessions - Imbeciles Records
From the title of this 6 track EP due out on the 30th October via the Imbeciles own record label, you can glean that this is a moving on after the ‘Dissolution’ of the previous line up of the band, a moving on and up by the sound of what hits your brain via the conduit that is the ears. As lead Imbecile Butch Dante says “We’ve slimmed down from a meandering, vegan, six-member prog rock combo, to a tight-knit, guitar-led, steak-eating 4-piece” , I couldn’t have said that any better.
Track for track your’e fed on a blend of Punk/Grunge/Garage oh and huge sonically charged slabs of Rock n Roll, which when you hear that Youth from Killing Joke was the man at the desk taking care of the production, it makes total sense that it’s gonna fill the room with power.
‘Yes I Am’ is a banger of a tune to kick off the new EP, that smacks of pure fun, a song which draws a line under the old Imbeciles and says here we are, ready to go, new chapter, new songs and old ones re-visited in a stronger way.
‘Sunday Leaguer’ comes in next, dropping football into the mix, this feels Blur’s ‘Park Life’ on drugs, but then ‘Decider’ also slots in a decidedly familiar bass riff, but then falls into some kind of trance like state, wonder if they took the ‘Medicine’ from the previous track?
What doesn’t lack throughout this EP though, is a need to try out so many genre’s and slot them together as if the were meant to be.
All this brings you to what is somewhat scarily the best vocal offering of all, a truly gritty cover of the brilliant Leo Sayer’s ‘One Man Band’, maybe not a one man band but Imbeciles are definitely in the same vain of making music fun and an art thing.
Not sure if this is the bands true direction or for that matter their correct direction, but any band that takes ‘One Man Band’ and lifts it to its deserved heights, gets a 4 out of 5 for this alone.
