Total Distortion - Kibou Records
Not after or before, but during lockdown KÖRD VÄRLD were born, a bastard offspring of PI$$ER, this is a band that brings all the hardcore that exists in the bowls of their surrogate family, strips off all the greatness that makes them a force of good in the music industry. So is this a good thing, or a huge mistake? Well any music is a good thing, especially when its done without giving a fuck for the norm!
Released on February 26th via Kibou Records, The ‘Total Distortion’ EP has 4 tracks that last all of 7 mins plus, smashes out all of your ear wax, and leaves the room as if it had just witnessed a hurricane in miniature. ‘Paranoid’ slams out of the prison bars first, UK meets Swedish hardcore and drives a stake into the heart of death metal.
With this release, there is no compromise, not softening down, no hanging around waiting for you to catch up, the only sign of weakness comes in at the beginning of the title track, a little feedback or something of that nature, that is abruptly cut short, beyond that though, all is still at peace with the forces of destruction that it wreaks upon the world of sound, buzzkill guitar, machine gun drums and some “beautifully” expressed lyrics take care of this.
What stands this EP apart from so many hardcore releases, is that it isn’t simply a copy, scratch the surface of the initial screaming vocal shock and don’t be a “beauty is only superficial” kind of music lover, and you will be rewarded with so many wonderful moments tucked away underneath the uncompromising angst.
If like myself you are a fan of everything that’s out there on the edge, music that always pushes you into an uncomfortable place, but leaves you glad you went there, this is for you.
Short, powerful and 100% current.
