Album Review: Beat City Tubeworks – I Just Cannot Believe It’s The Incredible

A remastered re-release of their first album.

Swedish Rock n Roll/Punk bands? Well lets see where Beat City Tubeworks fit in here, formed back in 2015 they have played with the likes of Guida and The Nomads so you kinda get the idea of where they stand in the world of live shows, but listening to this album for the first time you have to say that they definitely have at least some influence from the likes of those other Swedish greats like The Hives & Hellacopter which is never a bad thing.

From the first notes of “Gravy Days” the opening track of the album your in no doubt that this album is gonna have to be played at full volume and your at some point gonna get the air guitar out and get dancing, or for the older members reading this at the very least start slapping the thigh and tapping the foot, with a line like  “we are gonna play Rock n roll until our fingers bleed”  this is no slouch of an album, Guitars played with Melodic hooks, swampy licks and riffs that talk to you in that wonderful Rock n Roll blues way, Bass played with soul and a depth of feel that along with captivating Drums give a whole back line of pure percussion brilliance that would grace any super group. Then the Vocals, down right dirty blues with huge power and softness all at the same time.

Just to show how diverse this album can be even though staying within the Rock n Roll family, when you get into tracks like “The Tourist” with its throw back to the sounds of yep wait for it Status Quo and then there’s  “Badlands” which has definite undertones of AC/DC and beyond that you get a whole world of tracks filled with hints of yep The Hives and Eddie & the Hot Rods. 

I suppose there could be some out there that will say that this is a band/album that has nothing new when it comes to music, and yes this could be true in the general sense of yes it does take lots of influence from the past and gives no apologies for this.  

Beyond this you cannot help but be totally blown away by the quality of the sound, the ability of all the members and the pure passion that actually gives this their own unique sound and slant on what is in essence pure Rock N Roll/Garage Rock

Old and new, Rock N Roll blues at its freshest and best.
