Montreal’s Taxi Girls latest single, Rainy, began as a true collaborative effort from the group with the original theme revolving around a narrative of taking pills, it eventually evolved into a story about an abusive ex-friend who treated the group poorly…. someone that they’ve got dirt on and are saving that dirt for a rainy day! The b-side of the single features The Lion’s Sharea track that also transformed from its early roots as a bittersweet song about missing someone who still crosses your mind from time to time – and that, you know, probably still thinks about you too, until they reveal the innate perspective that this individual is taking up more mental space that they deserved. Letting go of them brings a fresh sense of freedom and even as their memory lingers, the reality is that you’re better off now than you ever were before. Rainy is now available through streaming platforms and on vinyl through Wild Honey Records and Dirt Cult Records.

“Rainy was first written during the winter of 2018, blending post-grunge and dark synth-pop influences. Originally, the song explored the emptiness of substance-fuelled lifestyles, and the stark loneliness of realizing party friends aren’t true allies, leaving you in a downward spiral. Fast forward to 2024—The song morphed into a story about an ex-friend who treated us poorly—someone we’ve got dirt on, saved for a rainy day! We had a blast bringing this one to life.”
