Earlier this week Avenged Sevenfold announced that they will not be appearing at Australia’s Soundwave Festival. The California metalcore band decided to cancel after much effort believing that they would not be able to deliver the type of performance that fans have come to expect from them. The band also posted a statement on their website discussing the drummer, Mike Portnoy’s recent decision to leave the band. Both full statements can be viewed here.
Said singer M. Shadows:
“We’re really sorry it’s not possible for us to play this show, and apologize for any inconvenience it has caused. The last thing we ever want to do is disappoint our fans, and we’ll be back to make it up to the Australian fans soon.”
Avenged Sevenfold has plans to replace Portnoy and will soon headline both US and Australian tours.
