Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong To Make Appearance In American Idiot The Musical

It was bound to happen, but Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has announced that for less than a week, he will be picking up the mic and taking the stage in his own Broadway hit, American Idiot.  Armstrong will assume the role of St. Jimmy between the dates of September 28, 2010 and October 3, 2010.  The role is normally played by original cast member Tony Vincent.  Immediately following this engagement, Mr. Armstrong will join Green Day in Caracas, Venezuela on October 8, 2010 to kick off their South American Tour.

Reprise Records released The Original Broadway Cast Recording of American Idiot on April 20 earlier this year, coinciding with the show’s opening performance.  The musical boasts two associated 2010 Tony awards, including Best Scenic Design of a Musical, and Best Lighting Design of a Musical.
