No Trigger have now been with us since the year 2000, they have been steadily pumping out melodic punk and hardcore songs slowly but surely every four or five years, now that five long years have passed since their last LP, Tycoon, came out, No Trigger have re-emerged and have released their brand new EP, Adult Braces. Bird Attack Records have already released the Adult Braces EP digitally, and the label will also be releasing Adult Braces on a special limited edition one sided screen printed twelve inch vinyl on August 11th.
The crashing opening chords of Sleeping Bag precede an impressive headlong blast of melodic hardcore, Holy Punks follows this up with an infectious slab of solid punk rock that brings another dimension to the EP. Dogs On Acid brings a heavier anthemic element to Adult Braces and finally Hyperaware brings the EP to a close with it’s finest moment. Somehow No Trigger have released an EP where each song exceeds the one that preceded it, and when you consider just how good the initial track is this is an impressive feat, and one that marks the long awaited Adult Braces EP out as a worthy successor to the Tycoon album.
With the Adult Braces EP No Trigger have released a short but sweet collection of four songs that borders on perfection, there might be lengthy gaps between No Trigger‘s releases but when they’re this good you don’t mind waiting, although it would nice to see a follow up before 2022, Adult Braces is a release that shows that their long hibernation has not dulled any of No Trigger‘s edge. On their latest release they have perfected their blend of punk rock and hardcore, and the result is an EP that is sure to be amongst my favourite release from 2017.

New York punk band Marathon have announced that they are reuniting for 2 shows at the end of February. The band were last active in 2006 when their self titled debut (and only) record was released, and following their break up some members went on to form Polar Bear Club and Attica! Attica!.
Now, following a re-release of their debut album in 2013 by Secret Audio Club, the band have decided to play 2 shows alongside fellow NY punks No Trigger and Fire When Ready.
There is no suggestion that these shows will lead to new music or even a larger scale tour, but we will keep you posted if anything develops.
The shows are planned for Feb 28th and March 1st with venues still to be confirmed.
O holy hell, where the heck did these guys come from?
According to their bio, they released their debut EP, Extinction In Stereo, way back in 2004. I have no idea where I was, because I missed it completely. I had never heard of No Trigger until Nitro started promoting them a bit. But as soon as the band jumped into The (Not So) Noble Purveyors Of The Third Or Fourth Coming, I knew I had been missing something – and by the time Tundra Kids came to an end I couldn’t wait to play the CD again and again and again and… well, you get the idea.
You see, Canyoneer is good. Damn good in fact. One of the best CDs I’ve heard in a long time, Canyoneer is a full out roller coaster from beginning to end. It’s hard, fast, driving, in your face and sincere. It’s angry, melodic hardcore that instantly gets your blood flowing, fists pumping and lungs screaming for air. It reminds you of other hardcore bands like label-mates A Wilhelm Scream or even melodic hardcore veterans the likes of Strike Anywhere – particularly in the vocal distribution, which is always snotty, agitated and strong. It’s the perfect set of vocals any band wants to have on their melodic hardcore album – anything different just wouldn’t work. Throw in the sing-along gang vocals on songs like You Said It and Tundra Kids and you’re in for a treat.
Each song throughout the entire album is lightning fast – with blistering riffs, spectacular guitar solos, a solid bass backbone and heavy, constant, malicious drumming. There’s no doubt that this band is going to blow up all over the underground scene, you won’t be able to walk into an indie store without seeing No Trigger.
This is a CD that music fans hope to see: consistently solid all the way through, without one moment of weakness. It sure as hell knocked me on my ass, and if you’re not careful you’ll be knocked down too.
