Shower Beers Drop New Single “Pete Wentz Doesn’t Know The Name Of Our Band”
NYC-based pop punkers Shower Beers have issued a nostalgic PSA via their new single, PeteWentz Doesn’t Know The Name Of…
Everything Melts Eventually, Volume One - Broken Circles Records
Everything Melts Eventually has clearly arrived with me a bit late as Broken Circle Records released this split single at the tail end of 2015 . This is Volume One of what I am led to believe will be an ongoing series, it features Bandit, Slow & Steady, Triathlon, and Ivadell. All the tracks on this Split are tied together with a wintery theme and are Christmas songs for the people who don’t like Christmas songs, so maybe I’m missing out on something listening to this on a warm May morning when the last hangovers of winter are distant memories.
All four bands on this release are thoughtful and introspective indie, and for those who love the likes of Elbow and Radiohead this would be a welcome find under the Christmas tree. There are occasional slay bells and the odd Christmas lyric but this is not your standard Christmas fayre and it reflects the darker side of that festive time of year, it stops short of people hanging themselves from the Christmas tree but not by much. It’s hard to pick a favourite out of these tracks but if had to choose I think Ivadell‘s Dog Days just nudges ahead with it’s rousing refrain celebrating the ending of another year.
This is a very well put together Split as each of the bands compliment each others sounds and styles perfectly and whilst this wouldn’t be my choice for the soundtrack to Christmas morning it is a reflective and dark alternative to usual nauseating saccharine sweetness of Christmas fayre.
