"Demons"

Kiss Off - Glunk Records

We might as well start with the band’s name, “Demons” is a name that is encountered fairly regularly but this Swedish variety have been around for almost a quarter of a century and those quotation marks aren’t accidental, making their moniker more of a statement than a vague attempt at summoning a dark lord, it’s also misleading as this is punk rock with a rock ‘n roll heart rather than the clichéd heavy metal soundtrack you might expect from a band called “Demons“. The band once stated they would never make another full length but thankfully here it is, their eighth album, “Kiss Off“. The opening salvo of “Baphomet Briefs” is an instant hit of revved up punk ‘n rock ‘n roll, before you’ve recovered from the first slug the next round is already in the chamber. This an album that personfies the fuck you attitude that all true rock ‘n roll should possess, couple that with a snotty punk presence and a touch of a garage punk sneer and you have a release that at times borders on perfection.

Kiss Off‘ is 35 minutes of undiluted full on raw high energy punk ‘n rock ‘n roll, “Demons” haven’t compromised on any element of this release, the production is loud and full on just as it should be, despite the fact that ‘Kiss Off‘ never relents in it’s in you face attitude you never find the album’s twelve hedonistic tracks blurring into each other, each and every one of the twelve tracks, or thirteen if you get the CD and get the bonus cover of the Anti-Nowhere League‘s ‘For You‘, has it’s own distinct character. ‘Kiss Off‘ is a remarkably consistent and exhilarating release that any self respecting fan of the likes of The Hellacopters, Turbonegro, Gluecifer, The Hip Priests, Michael Monroe and Motörhead really should have nestling in the collection. ‘Kiss Off‘ can now be streamed and downloaded via Bandcamp and is available on CD via Glunk Records, there is also be a vinyl pressing of the album in the pipeline that is set to be released later this year.
