It’s Alive Records has let slip that pop punkers The Dopamines will be releasing their third full length, Vices, sometime this spring, which will mark a reunion with the label. The band switched labels for their sophomore effort, Expect The Worst, which was released on Paper + Plastick Records.
When you think of good, solid punk rock – two bands that often come to mind are The Dopamines and Dear Landlord. That’s why the prospect of a split seven inch record between the two of them is so damn compelling.
Both bands know how to write a hook, fill a song with fist pumping energy and got a sweaty, energetic crowd sing along with them.
Now, the two outfits have both added two new songs to their repertoire through the four song split seven inch that is available at Paper + Plastick Records. But for those who don’t want to wait for the vinyl to arrive in your mail box, we have a full album stream of the entire EP right here.
While very few details have surfaced, it appears that Paper + Plastick Records will be releasing a split album with Dear Landlord and The Dopamines called Portrait Parle in the new future.
The announcement was made when the label released the artwork for the split; although other than that, nothing has been revealed yet. We’ll keep you updated as we find out more.
Cincinnati’s power pop-punk trio The Dopamines have announced that they will join Less Than Jake and Off With Their Heads next month on tour in support of their 2010 Paper + Plastick Records debut album, Expect The Worst. The dates are below.
After wards, th band plans to head back into the studio to record in March. The explained:
“We’re heading into the Drastic Sounds Studio in Nashville, TN with legendary punk rock staple Matt “Drastic” Yonker of Teen Idols/Queers fame. He has been a part of recording/producing process since day one. We’re stoked to be back in the studio with him. We are recording at least 12 songs. We’re hoping to have time to knock out even more. So far we have confirmed a split 7” with Dear Landlord to be released on Paper+Plastick, and tentatively one with Rehasher on Fest records (if Rehasher gets off their ass!). Past that is all secret! We have some other really awesome splits planned, and possibly an EP beyond that.
The songs are a pretty natural progression from the last record. I think the last record has a pretty poppy feel to it. I think some of these new songs still hold a lot of poppyness, while being a bit more aggressive and maybe a bit of influence from outside of the straight forward punk world. I think there are a lot of bands that inadvertently have a lot of influence on us. Like The Thermals, The Beatles, Superchunk and Guided by Voices are a pretty big influence on us musically, and I think some of that might show just a tiny bit with some of these new songs. But don’t worry, we still suck live and everything will remain beer-soaked”.
Dave Nobody, the roadie for The Dopamines, recently suffered a ruptured appendiz and is currently in the hospital recovering. Like many touring bands, Nobody also doesn’t have health insurance and Paper + Plastick Records are trying to raise money to help pay the hospital bills. They explain saying:
The Dopamines roadie — Dave Nobody from St. Louis — recently had a ruptured appendix a few days before Thanksgiving. He’s still in the hospital and having a pretty rough time. Thankfully, he’s going to be okay, but like every struggling road-dog, he doesn’t have health care. A benefit show is in the works, but for right now we are asking to have people donate any money if possible. Please paypal to mw_punk@hotmail.com. We understand it’s hard times, trust us, but even just a couple bucks will make a big difference for Dave. I’m sure most touring bands have partied with Dave, stayed at his house, or even had him set up your show in St. Louis at some point (or all the time).

Cincinatti’s pop punkers The Dopamines have confirmed the dates for their upcoming tour starting later this month. The U.S. tour, with a side-step into Canada, ends in August when the band plays at Best Friend’s Day in Richmond, VA.
The band also just wrapped up filming their music video for the track “Public Domain” with Mario Framingheddu. The track is from their recently released Paper + Plastick debut, Expect The Worst. The finished work will premier on Friday, August 13th on BlankTV.com.

That record is none other than The Dopamines‘ Expect The Worst, a thirteen track album reminiscent of releases from Lookout Records‘ legendary back catalog.
The record comes after a slew of seven inches, a cassette and 2008′s Self-Titled effort on It’s Alive Records.The band recently recorded an album with Roger Lima from Less Than Jake and Matt Yonker from Teen Idols/The Queers at Roger’s Moat House Studios in Gainesville, FL. The album was then passed on to Stephen Egerton(Decendents/ALL) for mixing.
Once the album hits the streets, the band plans to tour non-stop in their newly purchased Cincinnati Bengals-styled RV and take any money earned from it and place it all on 27 black when they get back home – because that’s the best way to ensure they’ll always be out touring and playing music they love.
