Barely a week after Atom Willard’s departure from Social Distortion, the band has announced that Scott Reed of Fu Manchu will be taking drumming duties.
Yesterday on their official website, Social Distortion announced that their drummer, Adam “Atom” Willard, is leaving the band to pursue his work in Angels & Airwaves. Willard took over percussion responsibilities of the band after the departure of Charlie Quintana last year.
The band explained the departure saying:
Due to many foreseeable scheduling conflicts with his band Angels And Airwaves, we regret to announce that Atom Willard will no longer be able to continue on drums for Social Distortion. We know this was not an easy decision for him, but Atom is an incredible individual and we’re all better people for having him on board while we did. Atom will be sorely missed, but we wish him the very best.
Social Distortion are currently in the studio working on their long awaited new album.
