Angels and Airwaves have released a new video for their song ”Clever LOVE.” The video is the first of four extended stories of characters that make brief appearances in the feature film L)VE which is produced by the band.
The writer and director of the film, William Eubank, described the videos saying:
“The vignettes are not just character back-stories, but that each one represents some of the more pertinent themes explored in the film: communication, isolation, relationship, and fate vs destiny. Which one explores what, is up to the viewer…”

After many delays and more than four years in the making Angels & Airwaves have finished up their full length motion picture effort Love. Director William Eubank made the announcement saying:
So, its been a really long time, i know….. but damn we are finally done shooting everything for LOVE. we are officially in the “tieing up loose ends” part… Was in ADR all day yesterday with Gunner, sound design is moving along and the tracks are getting polished etc. Its been a super long haul, but we are way close.
Spent the whole morning cleaning up some of the monster mess I made last weekend while shooting.
Its weird to think that this movie has taken around 4 years… i was 24 or 23 when this journey began and now im almost 28. its crazy putting this much of ones self into a project, but in a way its so awesome… a lot of the art in the film is stuff i was drawing back in high school, in the backround of one of the shots in the space station theres a picture of my dog who was alive while we were shooting and now hes past…i think in the world of film making its rare to be able to have the pallete of 4 years to create something… might not of had the budget, but we definetly had the time. both the film and i were able to go through some serious evolution. i think back about it now, and decisions i would have made about things back then i dont think i would have made now and vice versa. i think thats why the film will so cool though. the story almost loosely follows a similar path, or theme, of how time changes eveything, especially perspective. its funny how true the saying is: that only time can understand how precious love is… the irony is amazing.
While the film definetly has a lot of little metaphorical messages in it, im hoping everyone is able to find them in their own way… that to me is what film making as all about. connection is everything. love is everything.
In April we talked with Tom DeLonge and David Kennedy of Angels & Airwaves about the movie and many other things; that interview can be read here.
As I sat backstage at the Edmonton Event Centre across from Tom DeLonge and David Kennedy of Angels & Airwaves, I couldn’t help but feel that everything has come full circle. Blink-182, DeLonge’s other band, was the first band that got me into the whole punk rock thing as it introduced me to a style and sound that forever changed my life. Not to mention the fact that my first web site was also a Blink fan site which in turn opened up more doors for me than I ever thought possible. David Kennedy, oddly enough, was the first person I ever interviewed as in 2002 I conducted a phone interview with the then Box Car Racer guitarist. The interview wasn’t fantastic due to my inexperience but started me on a long road of interviews.
But this isn’t about me, this is about the two guitarists and their latest endeavors in Angels & Airwaves. The band’s been busy. Not only did they self-released and self-funded a new album which they’re giving away for free online but they’re also putting on a feature length film of the same name which will be released later this year. We had an indepth look at both of those, along with the philosophy and ideology behind Angels & Airwaves – what they’re trying to accomplish and why.
Over the course of the interview we touched on many aspects; sadly, due to time restraints, we couldn’t go into tons of details about everything but instead had a nice overview so if you ever get a chance to talk to the band ask them about the esoteric symbolism of Love, the importance of technology in today’s industry and definitely get Tom talking about aliens and UFOs – something I think he could talk about for hours if the rest of the band didn’t cut him off.
Angels & Airwaves are in the midst of a North American tour in support of their new album, Love. On Monday they stopped in Calgary and Chris got some photos of the band live.
Tonight Angels & Airwaves kick off their highly anticipated new tour in support of their recent album, Love. The North American Tour starts in San Francisco and runs straight through until the end of May during which time they’ll play across Canada and the United States. Supporting them on the tour will be Say Anything who recently released their self-titled album as well. The dates are below
Love is the band’s third album and was self-released online for free. The entire album was self-financed by Tom DeLonge and will be used as a soundtrack for an upcoming feature length film of the same name which details the story of an astronaut as he becomes stranded in orbit alone aboard the International Space Station.
Yesterday on their official website, Social Distortion announced that their drummer, Adam “Atom” Willard, is leaving the band to pursue his work in Angels & Airwaves. Willard took over percussion responsibilities of the band after the departure of Charlie Quintana last year.
The band explained the departure saying:
Due to many foreseeable scheduling conflicts with his band Angels And Airwaves, we regret to announce that Atom Willard will no longer be able to continue on drums for Social Distortion. We know this was not an easy decision for him, but Atom is an incredible individual and we’re all better people for having him on board while we did. Atom will be sorely missed, but we wish him the very best.
Social Distortion are currently in the studio working on their long awaited new album.
