The good folks at Absolute Punk have premiered a brand new track from Boston’s Have Nots as a free download. The track is titled “Louisville Slugger” and comes from the band’s upcoming full length, Proud, scheduled to drop May 3, 2011 on Paper + Plastick Records. The album serves as a followup to 2009’s Serf City USA.
Proud was recorded in Nashville, TN with producer Matt Drastic (Blacklist Royals, The Dopamines), mixed by Stephen Egerton (Descendents/ALL), and recorded at Drastic Sound back in summer 2010. Drummer Steve Patton comments on the album’s direction:
“Jon wrote the song ‘Proud’ about his dad who passed away fifteen years ago… It’s about growing up, and being who you want to be, and the roads you take to get you where you are. When we were trying to decide on a name for the record we tossed around a couple of different ideas, but ultimately decided that, since we were proud of this record, and of the work that we’ve done as a band to get us where we are today, Proud would be a fitting title.”
