Last year, Matt Pryor (of The Get Up Kids, New Amsterdams fame), began a Kickstater program to help fund the release of his new solo album. After raising twice his original goal, he was able to put that money into the recording and release of May Day - which was released last week on his own label, Nightshoes Syndicate.

The Shell Corporation Signs To Solidarity Records, Continues to Tour

Burbank/San Francisco’s The Shell Corporation have signed with Solidarity Recordings to re-release their debut full length album, Force Majeure. The album will be available through digital outlets and in 12″ vinyl format in April 2012. It was previously self released in CD format and available digitally for free from Death to False Hope Records.

The band continues to tour in support of Force Majeure and its Bread & Circuses 7” EP; the dates are below.

The Best of 2011 – A Year In Review

A day before we ring in the new year (and a few hours before I jump on an 18 hour greyhound bus ride back home to Vancouver), I’m incredibly pleased to present to you – our loyal readers – our annual look back at the last 365 days.

This year was an incredible year for music and all of us here at ThePunkSite.com found albums that we fell in love with. We’re taking this time to share those albums with you in hopes that you will check them out and discover your next favourite band. While a few albums appear several times across the various lists, this year is quite different than the last few as all the writers have selected a wide variety of albums that they have found noteworthy.

New Interview: This Is A Standoff

I met up with Nick Kouremenos, the bearded bassist from This Is A Standoff, at Remedy café near the University of Alberta and Whyte Ave in Edmonton, Alberta on a cool fall day. Despite the drop in temperature Nick came in wearing shorts and a big smile, eagerly talking about the ten week tour the band had just completed, which spanned Canada, as well as many European countries. Having attended the same small rural school briefly in our youth, we sat down to discuss our mutual love of punk music that brought us back together more than a decade later.

On this lazy Sunday afternoon, we’re pleased to present your eyes with a gift of looking at a bunch of new live photos that we have added to our ever growing media gallery.

Today’s update is a doozy of an update with photos from two different cities covering a wide variety of bands and styles.

First up, we have six new photos albums courtesy of Mike Fajardo out of Denver, Colorado. You can check out his photos of the likes of: The Foo Fighters, Chuck Ragan, Social Distortion, Kyuss Lives!, Psychedelic Furs and Frank Turner right now!

Interview: Andrew Jackson Jihad

Standing outside of a dirty venue, half a block from the Occupy Edmonton campsite, I spoke with the duo known asAndrew Jackson Jihad. The guys had just finished performing in front of a sweaty club full of people who were either singing along with their songs or standing silently in awe. It was clear that AJJ had won over a legion of fans in a cold land a far cry from their sunny hometown of Phoenix, Arizona.
