Austin Lucas – Releases New Video “Alone In Memphis” & Announces Tour
In celebration of what would have been Elvis Presley’s 79th birthday, CMT Edge is premiering Austin Lucas’ video “Alone In Memphis,” which stars the rising country crooner Lucas as an Elvis impersonator performing on the lonely streets of Tennessee directed by Stokes Nielson. The music video and tour dates can be found below. Austin Lucas explains:
“It just seemed so perfect to be telling a story about Memphis and to include Elvis, he’s so intrinsically wrapped into the fabric of that cities mythology and the collective consciousness of the world. I felt as though it could make everything that much more tangible and relatable for the listener. With a protagonist that is so familiar, I hoped that it would make the audience feel the isolation of the characters in the story of the song just that much more and hopefully really bring it home while making folks laugh.”
“Alone In Memphis” is one of the many standouts from Lucas’s New West Records debut Stay Reckless. The record, produced by Mark Nevers (Caitlin Rose, Jason Isbell, Bonnie Prince Billy) and featuring alt-country rockers Glossary as Lucas’ backing band.
