Ahead of this year’s Rebellion Festival we’re asking a selection of the band’s who are appearing about what we can expect, and for their advice on surviving the four day festival. In the tenth of The Punk Site‘s 2019 Rebellion Festival previews we speak to Spider, an early 80s inspired Southern California based punk rock band from Long Beach California. Spider’s personal pedigree boasts former and current members of Channel 3, Walk Proud, Legend Of The Seagullmen, Total Massacre and Bullet Treatment. The focus of Spider’s existence is their live show, their set broadcasts with a sense of modern urgency and a blast of pure punk rock. You can read about what to expect from Spider at the Rebellion Festival below.

Is this your first experience of the Rebellion Festival or have you played before?

This will be our second time playing Rebellion Festival. Our first performance at Rebellion was on the Introducing Stage. We really felt the love from the fans at the Introducing Stage that checked us out. That performance led directly to us getting invited back to play the main stage this year! We are honored and grateful for the opportunity.

What can we look forward to from your set?

We’re super excited to play new songs from our upcoming record “Energy Gone Wrong!” (release date July 26, 2019) There’s a certain kinetic and visceral force that comes through when we play the new songs. We understand that there is something special about spending your time to watch a band. We want to make sure the audience feels it’s time well spent, because this time can never be recreated or done over we make sure we don’t hold back and we give 100% every time we play.

What makes the Rebellion Festival special for you?

It’s the greatest UK punk festival in history.

Will you have the chance to catch anyone else whilst you’re there and is there anyone else on the bill you’d recommend people go and see?

Catching sets by the other bands is the best part of playing Rebellion, we will definitely be checking out The Damned, The Descendents and Fear!! Plus so many more!!!!

If you could pick one band to appear at the Rebellion Festival who would it be?

Circle Jerks

Do you have a favourite memory from a previous Rebellion Festival?

Last year was our first year. We played the Introduction Stage and made lots of new friends. We also saw tons of our old friends too that played. It was a great punk rock family reunion!

Are you currently on tour if so where else are you playing this year?

Our summer 2019 tour includes stops in London, Leeds, Bristol, Manchester, Amsterdam and Blackpool!

What can we look forward to from you in the next twelve months?

Next year we’ll be heading to NYC, Japan and Australia. Plus we have been working on new songs. Stay tuned!

Do you have any festival survival tips?

Be good to each other, have fun, eat drink and be merry!

Is there anything else in Blackpool you’d recommend people experience whilst they’re in the town?

Fish n’ Chips!

Finally when and where are you appearing?

We are playing Sat August 3rd at 12:35-1:15pm on the Empress Ballroom Stage!

Thanks for taking the time to speak to us, we’ll see you down the front

Cheers!
