    Our Father

    The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven

    2. The Church is missionary because tirelessly announces that God is Father, full of love for all men. Every human being and every people looking, sometimes without even realizing it, the mysterious face of God, however, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, revealed fully for us (cf. Jn 1, 18) . God is “Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” and “desires all men to be saved and reach full knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim 2, 4). Those who accept his grace discovered with astonishment that are children of the one Father and feel indebted to all the proclamation of salvation.

However, in today’s world many do not even recognize the God of Jesus Christ as Creator and Father. Some, sometimes because of the believers, have chosen indifference and atheism, others cultivating a vague religiosity, have built a God in his own image and likeness, and others consider it a completely unattainable.

Believers have the mission of proclaiming and witnessing that although “dwells in unapproachable light” (I Tm 6, 16), the heavenly Father, in His Son, incarnate in the womb of the Virgin Mary, crucified and risen, is has approached each man and makes him able “to answer, to know and to love” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 52).

    Hallowed be thy name

    3. The awareness that the encounter with God promotes and exalts the dignity of man leads the Christian to pray: “Hallowed be thy name” is, say, “Let there be light in Thy knowledge, so that we know the extent of your benefits, the extent of your promises, the sublimity of your majesty and depth of thy judgments “(San Francisco, Franciscan Sources, 268).

The Christian asks God to be sanctified in his adopted children, as well as to you who have not received their revelation, co overcame or holiness that God saves through the entire creation.

For God’s name be hallowed among the nations, the Church strives to add to humanity and creation in the plan that the Creator, “in his benevolence, are proposed in advance,” “to be holy and blameless in his presence in love “(Eph 1, 9. 4).

Thy kingdom come, thy will be

    4. With these words the believers invoke the coming of the divine realm and the glorious return of Christ. This desire, however, cut off from their daily mission in the world, on the contrary, the further compromises. The kingdom is now the Holy Spirit, the Lord sent “to sanctify all things, in bringing to fulfillment his work in the world” (Roman Missal, Eucharistic Prayer IV).

In modern culture has spread a sense and hopes of a new era of peace, prosperity, solidarity, respect for human rights and universal love. The Church, illuminated by the Spirit, announces that the kingdom of justice, peace and love, as proclaimed in the Gospel, is carried mysteriously during the centuries by individuals, families and communities who choose to live in a radical way the teachings of Christ, in the spirit of the Beatitudes. Through their efforts, encourage temporary society towards goals of greater justice and solidarity.

The Church also proclaims that the Father is “that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim 2, 4) by adhering to Christ, whose commandment, which summarizes all the others and we manifested all his will, is that we love one another as he has loved us “(Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 2822).

Jesus invites us to pray for this intention and teaches us that we do not enter into the kingdom of heaven lbs saying “Lord, Lord” but doing “the will of your Father who is in heaven” (cf. Mt 7, 21) .

Give us today our daily bread

    5. In our time is very strong belief that everyone is entitled to the “daily bread”, ie, to the necessities of life. Is equally due to requirement of an equity and solidarity shared among themselves to a human. However, many of them still live in accordance with their dignity as persons. Just think of the misery and illiteracy that exist in some continents, the lack of housing and lack of health care and labor, political oppression and wars that destroy peoples of entire regions of the earth.

What is the role of Christians against these dramatic situations? What is the relation of faith in the living and true God with the solution of the problems that plague mankind? As I wrote in encíclicaRedemptoris missio, “the development of a people does not derive primarily from lineman, or material assistance or technological means, but rather the formation of consciences and the gradual maturing of the mentality and customs. Man is the principal agent of development, not money or technology. The Church forms consciences by revealing to peoples the God they seek, but do not know, the grandeur of man created in the image of God and loved by him, will equal all men as children of God … “(N. 58). The Church, announcing that men are sons of the same Father, and therefore brothers, given their contribution to building a world of authentic fraternity.

The Christian community is called to cooperate in developing and promoting peace with human works with education institutions and training to youth service, with the constant denunciation of oppression and injustice around tipo.Sin however, the contribution Specific Church is the proclamation of the Gospel, the Christian formation of people, families and communities, is convinced that his mission is “not act directly on the economic, technical, political or materially contribute to the development, but consists essentially in offering people an opportunity not “RNAs have” but a “be more”, awakening their consciences with the Gospel. Authentic human development must be rooted in an ever deeper evangelization “(ibid.) .

    Forgive us our trespasses

    6. Sin is present in the history of mankind since the beginning. Split the original linking of the creature with God, with serious consequences for their lives and that of others. And today, well, why not emphasize that the many manifestations of evil and sin are often an ally in the media! And how not to observe that “for many the chief means of information and education, of guidance and inspiration in their behavior as individuals, families and social” (Redemptoris Missio, 37) are precisely the various media!

Missionary activity is aimed at individuals and peoples carry the good news of the merciful goodness of the Lord. The Father in heaven, as clearly shown in the parable of the prodigal son is good and forgives the repentant sinner, forget the guilt and returns the serenity and peace. That is the true face of God, loving Father, that gives strength to overcome evil with good and becomes capable, who exercises his love, to contribute to the world’s redemption.

As we forgive those who trespass against us

    7. The Church is called, its mission, to do the comforting reality of the divine fatherhood not only with words, but above all with the sanctity of the missionaries and the people of God. “The renewed impulse to the mission ad gentes – wrote in the Encyclical Redemptoris missio demands holy missionaries. Not enough to update pastoral techniques, organize and coordinate the ecclesial resources, or delve more deeply into the biblical and theological foundations of faith: you must give rise to a new “ardor for holiness” among missionaries and throughout the Christian community “(n. 90).

Faced with the terrible and multiple consequences of sin, believers have a duty to provide signs of forgiveness and love. Only if you have experienced in your life and the love of God may be able to love others generously and transparent. Forgiveness is a high expression of divine charity, given as a gift to someone who asks insistently.

Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil

    8. With these latest requests in the “Our Father” we ask God not to allow us to take the path of sin and to free us from evil, often inspired by a personal being, Satan, who wants to thwart the plan of God and he work of salvation is in Christ.
Conscious of having been called to bring the message of salvation to a world dominated by sin and evil, Christians are invited to turn to God, asking him to victory over the prince of the world (cf. Jn 14, 30) , accomplished once for all by Christ, to become your daily experience of life. In social areas heavily dominated by the logic of power and violence, the Church has the mission to witness the love of God and the power of the Gospel, that overcome hatred and violence, selfishness and indifference. The Spirit of Pentecost renew the Christian people, redeemed by the blood of Christ. This little flock is sent everywhere, but very few staff free of constraints, as a leaven of a new humanity.
