Young Statues have premiered their cover of Billy Bragg‘s “A New England” featuring vocals from Brianna Collins of label mates Tigers Jaw online. The song comes from their brand new ‘Covers‘ 7″ which is due out on December 4th through Run For Cover Records.
On top of the Bragg cover, the EP features Ashes & Fire (Ryan Adams), California Girls (The Magnetic Fields), and Age Of Consent (New Order). It can be pre-ordered here. Regarding the project, front man Carmen Cirignano says:
“For me, doing cover songs was a fun and welcomed challenge. It was a way to tap into artists and styles that really influence us, and learn about what made this music stand out. These songs were covered in particular because they are simply a few of my favorite songs. Also, we wanted to do try a few new things in the studio, which are the reasons behind the duet with Brianna and the synth heavy “Age of Consent”. We picked songs that we felt would be fun and challenging at the same time.”
