After seven long years, Hot Water Music has announced their first new material since their lengthy hiatus. The band will break the dry spell digitally on August 2, 2011 (August 29th for the physical 7″) with a double track EP titled The Fire, The Steel, The Tread / Adds Up To Nothing which features two tracks of the same name. Front man Chuck Ragan comments on the long road leading up to the release:
“Timing. It’s always been a matter of timing… we’ve wanted to get it together but have all been full steam ahead in our own directions that it’s taken this long to do it… We’re still four moving parts in a moving world and have been sending ideas back and forth as well as recordings… so it’s extremely exciting to us to see what we accomplish in the same room soon after seeing what we were able to do over the lines.”
The pre-sale for the physical vinyl 7″ copies will start on August 15th, and be available from No Idea Records, Chunksaah Records, and the Hot Water Music webstore. Each supplier will be offering different colored vinyl, bundled with a special edition t-shirt limited to 1,000 copies.
