The good folks and Sound Study Records is giving away a free summer sampler over on their website. I was really only familiar with Chris Wollard to start with, Post Teens and The Future have quick solidified themselves as other notable standouts.

Recycled Rockstar Industries have released 3 free compilations for your listening pleasure. A good mixture of pop punk, punk rock, and indie. A review of Volume III by our own, Cole Faulkner, can be found here.
Recycled Rockstar Industries – Fountains of Folly Vol. I
Punk Rock Heart Transplant is a collection of overlooked punk rock bands – many of which I have been praising in reviews for the past while. Bands like Samuel Caldwell’s Revenge, Sic Waiting, Chaser, and DC Fallout, accompanied by a whole slew of new band’s I’m now in the process of looking into – Wrecking Dead, The Bastard Suns, and Battle Born to name a few. This is a great compilation featuring many worthwhile underground melodic punk acts that you should know about.
Livid Records has a roster of bands I’m not terribly familiar with. Thankfully they’ve been able to change that with their first digital mixtape: Livid Records Mixtape Vol. I. The compilation includes quite the soundscape, bringing a healthy array of choice to listeners. Garage, retro, rock, pop-punk – you name it, they’ve got it. The Getback, Furious Dudes, The Shrubs and Zero Cool might be good starting points for punk fans, but this monster features a beastly twenty-five tracks, so there’s sure to be something for everyone.
Facedown Records hosts a bunch of notable bands like My Epic, Messengers, War Of Ages, Overcome, and Take It Back to name a few. The label has also teamed up with Strike First Records to bring you what they’re calling Facedown Fest 2011, and are celebrating with a brand new compilation CD. It’s not necessarily my scene, but if you like really heavy, gut churning hardcore and metal, then this is an event worth checking out. The sampler is free, but sadly only to those in the US.
Sorry about the delay lately, Christmas just kind of caught up with me I ran out of time! So to get back on track, here’s a great winter compilation by the good folks at AMP Magazine. There are a lot of really solid bands on here, like Banquets, Banner Pilot, Be My Doppelganer, The Brokedowns, Captain We’re Sinking, DC Fallout, Go Rydell, Heartsounds, Iron Chic, Mixtapes, Red City Radio, Sainte Catherines, and Under Stars and Gutters to list a few I’m already familiarized with. The entire compilation is thirty-five songs, and it works really well together as a group. Just sign-up using AMP Magazine’s Facebook and it’s yours!

The Fest 9 is still half a week away, but that hasn’t stopped Juicebox Recordings from celebrating early. In fact, the Canadian donation based label is offering a free mixtape of the those Canadian bands that are heading down south for the Gainsville punk rock extravaganza. Notable bands include Junior Battles, The Flatliners, Saint Alvia, and The Sainte Catherines to name a few. Let’s here it for Canada!
Since Deep Elm’s resurrection earlier this year, they’ve been pumping out release after release of quality indie and post-punk. From melody to dissonance, there’s little they haven’t touched. To help familiarize their listener with their growing roster, they’ve released a new sampler. Check it out for a taste of their new goodies.
ANOTHER free sampler? Hope this isn’t getting redundant! This time it’s from the dudes at Fearless Records, who have seem to become the forefront of generic pop-punk in recent years. In any case, the songs are catchy, even if they are rather generic and overly polished, so if that’s what you like, don’t waste any time!
Sub Pop has been a staple in the independent music community for years. Somehow their music continues to be relevant well after Nirvana left their roster. Enjoy this free 2009 sampler!
