Everyone’s favourite pop-punk outfit straight from Ohio are back with yet another free downloadable EP! That’s right, The Mixtapes are back with two delightfully witty, comical and poppy tunes for you to download, devour and enjoy. With dual male/female vocals working off of one another and references to Strung Out, Tim Burton, Mars Attacks and more, you know you’re in for a treat.
Why I Hope/Why I Hate has released a follow up to their previous single. This time the stripped down acoustic Why I Hope track comes first, with the full band version following next. I won’t bother retyping all the details about about the band again, but if you’re interested in this unique project, check out my first post about them. It also looks like Keith has been at it again with some more hugely stylized album art.
Why I Hope/Why I Hate - Feathered Hair And Pegged Chords
Here’s something new, two bands that seem to be one and the same: Why I Hate and Why I Hope. In any case, heed little attention to my curiosity, because when it comes to their recently released two song single released on Kiss Of Death Records, these songs basically speak for themselves. The first being a good old punk rock tune, and the second being the same track, taking the guise of an acoustic number. If you don’t listen for the lyrics you’d think they were completely different tunes!
Their upcoming four track will be of a similar nature and has me pretty excited for this, listen to the description: “The upcoming CD for Why I Hate has 4 bonus Why I Hope versions of the songs on it, and the limited LP version will be a double vinyl, with 10 Why I Hate versions of the songs, and 8 Why I Hope versions. The album just has a WIH on the cover”
But this isn’t supposed to be a news post, so do download! (and the cover looks like Keith’s style, which is always a treat!)
Why I Hate/Why I Hope – The Symbol I’m Known To be
Here’s something that all fans of Hot Water Music inspired musicianship should check out ASAP. Gruff, melodic, and altogether easy to get into and follow along with, these are eleven songs that demand to be played, LOUD. Donate if you feel so inclined.
Death To False Hope Records is is usually a home for crusty punk rock, but now the label seems to trying its hand with melodic, technical hardcore punk with the release of Recover’s From The Tracks. The UK/Sweden based band is a real breath of fresh air for the label, and should easily satisfy fans of Strung Out, Millencolin, and A Wilhelm Scream as predicted on the label description.
I first found out about Mixtapes earlier this year through their debut EP. I loved it. And now they’re already offering up a follow-up. Think the dual female/male vocals of Lemuria, but with a little bit of punked up anger. It’s a short offering, but I’m not complaining – just a little impatient for a full length!
Articulate, edgy pop-punk doesn’t come along very often, let alone as a free download. I’ve been listening to The Sweet Revenge‘s debut for a while now and just can’t get enough of it. The Californian band just has a way with words – narrative specifically – that completely captivates. Weather the songs are about broken homes or unintended murders born out of rage, Creatures Of Routine never disappoints. Donate if you feel so inclined.
Arliss Nancy is one of my favourite bands on Death To False Hope Recordse. The band sounds like country punks Lucero or Ben Nichols, but in an extremely original way. In other words, they overcome the obvious comparisons and take on a life of their own. If you like it, you can always donate.
If you use Punknews.org for your daily fix of punk music (of course as a supplement to The Punk Site ), then you’ll get every reference on here! It’s great stuff, chalk full of witty reference and a great Fat Wreck sounds somewhere between NOFX and No Us for a Name. Lots of love and care went into this one! Donate if you like it!
Fun little light hearted indie with some serious attitude. Their first EP serves as a great introduction to the band’s clean production value and well developed musicianship.
