Dine Alone Records is getting in the spirit of the holiday season and has released a generous holiday sampler from a whole load of talented indie artists. From Deep Tick to Parlovr and City and Colour, the label’s roster has steadily improved over the years into the masterful list that is today. Simply a great playlist.
Here’s a whole bunch of music from Facedown Records by artists I’ve never heard of. Most of them sound every big as hardcore as that shark riding a motorcycle on the front cover. A couple of stndouts include Hands, Immortal Souls, and Saving Grace. The weak of heart need not apply.
The good folks and Sound Study Records is giving away a free summer sampler over on their website. I was really only familiar with Chris Wollard to start with, Post Teens and The Future have quick solidified themselves as other notable standouts.
Various Artists – Sound Study Records Summer Sampler
Facedown Records are back with their annual summer sampler as a free download. This year’s edition features ten songs from the likes of Hands, Onward to Olympas, My Epic, Altars, Call To Preserve, Hope for the Dying and more.
On Wed. April 20th, 2011 (one year after the gulf coast oil spill), Community Records released a benefit compilation to help create awareness and progress in the wake of the BP drilling disaster. For the compilation, Community Records teamed up with Asian Man Records, Plan-It-X Records, and Quote Unquote Records to get an extra dose of songs and what a track list they came up with. Thirty six songs from the likes of The Wild, Spraynard, Brng of it, We Are The Union, Murphy’s Kids, Matt Wixson, Laura Stevenson and more, including a bunch of unreleased tracks from the likes of Mike Park, Mustard Plug and Marathon.
Head Above Water: A Response To BP Drilling Disaster
Punk Rock Heart Transplant is a collection of overlooked punk rock bands – many of which I have been praising in reviews for the past while. Bands like Samuel Caldwell’s Revenge, Sic Waiting, Chaser, and DC Fallout, accompanied by a whole slew of new band’s I’m now in the process of looking into – Wrecking Dead, The Bastard Suns, and Battle Born to name a few. This is a great compilation featuring many worthwhile underground melodic punk acts that you should know about.
Livid Records has a roster of bands I’m not terribly familiar with. Thankfully they’ve been able to change that with their first digital mixtape: Livid Records Mixtape Vol. I. The compilation includes quite the soundscape, bringing a healthy array of choice to listeners. Garage, retro, rock, pop-punk – you name it, they’ve got it. The Getback, Furious Dudes, The Shrubs and Zero Cool might be good starting points for punk fans, but this monster features a beastly twenty-five tracks, so there’s sure to be something for everyone.
Facedown Records hosts a bunch of notable bands like My Epic, Messengers, War Of Ages, Overcome, and Take It Back to name a few. The label has also teamed up with Strike First Records to bring you what they’re calling Facedown Fest 2011, and are celebrating with a brand new compilation CD. It’s not necessarily my scene, but if you like really heavy, gut churning hardcore and metal, then this is an event worth checking out. The sampler is free, but sadly only to those in the US.
In honor of Major League Baseball’s Opening Day, San Jose-based Solidarity Recordings are offering a free 30 track sampler for the month of April. The sampler features tracks from the likes of The Mathadones, The Atome Age, White Wives, Joyce Manor, Why I Hate, Slow Fade, Anchor Down and more.
Hurry though, it’ll only be available for the month of April.
At last year’s Fest, Kind Of Like Records went around handing our free sunglasses featuring a link to download a compilation of 22 awesome bands – some of who were playing the festival and some who weren’t.
Well, now the label has made that compilation available for download without any sunglasses. So wait no longer and get some free tunes from the likes of Captain We’re Sinking, Menzingers, Junior Battles, Riot Before, Dopamines and more.
