Version Two Release New Album ‘Childish’ & Announce 2016 Tour

14269830_1375367912476846_1613339850_nAt a party, Reagan walked up to Ty and said, “You, me, and Joe are starting a band. You are playing guitar and singing and that is it.

You are not allowed to say no.” Ty fought it for a while, but came to a compromise of that we were just going to be 3 friends jamming in Ty’s basement and we would only play a show if someone were  to come to us and ask us to play. That rule still holds true to this day. Every show we have played is due to word of mouth and people asking us to play. Reagan and Joe, who are brothers have played in multiple bands together throughout the years.(Killing Roses, A Life Altered, Salvation Is Calling). Ty has played in many bands in his career as well (Operation Wrong, L.W.A., ETC, Population Explosion).

Version Two has a few simple rules:

First, it will always be for fun first. We are all thankful for the opportunities we have been given, but if we go back to where nobody likes us, we will still just jam in the basement. It’s pretty much an excuse to do something as friends throughout our lives.

Second, if any of us does not like something in any facet of the band, we will not do it. This stems from the “3 friends doing for fun” aspect of this.

Release date: 9/9/2016

14-tracks of pure silky smooth deliciousness recorded at 2outta3 studios in Ogden, UT.

The Recording took place in July and August of 2016.

“In my opinion, this is the first record I have been a part of that I can actually be proud of. We all worked our asses off to put this out and are stoked for the world to give it a listen!”

-Ty Norton

We consider ourselves an “alt rock inspired, melodic punk rock band”. We feel that saying we’re a “punk” band doesn’t describe us fully. Punk rock is so expansive nowadays that it is hard to classify a single band. We just love punk rock and write what sounds awesome to the 3 of us.

We have some songs that have a much different feel than a lot of other “punk” bands out there. We have a rule that if one of us does not love a song, we just don’t play it.

The writing process always involves all 3 of us. Even if someone comes to the table with a “completed” song, it will always end up different, based on what each of us brings to the writing process. No matter what, we have to all love it and it has to be fun to play.

The tour starts 9/9/2016 and Kicks off in Tempe, AZ with Reason Unknown, and will wrap up on 9/13 in Salt Lake City with the Swinging Utters.

“We are so stoked for the opportunity to show what we got to a new audience! Most of all though, we are looking forward to having a great time.”

-Version Two

Dusty tapes, overly saturated images, and a sense of nostalgia for the way we used to imagine things would be encompass the spirit of this endeavor. Aree & The Pure Heart – The Heart Sounds of Punk

If things went according to plan, the world of punk rock may have never been introduced to Atlanta songwriter Aree Ogir.
In 2009, while teaching full-time, Aree’s hip hop group caught the attention of people at Atlantic Records and they eventually brought him on board to produce and write for their Top Forty roster. While juggling days in the classroom and long nights in the studio, Aree’s wife became pregnant with their daughter that would eventually become the inspiration for Aree’s band name. Their daugter was born with a congenital heart defect that required open heart surgery. After being denied insurance for their daughter due to a “pre-existing condition,” Aree left Atlantic to start a second job and get the medical insurance necessary to continue care for his daughter.
Fast forward 6 years and Aree has found the motivation, and made the time to start contributing to the world of music once again. The band just self-released their debut EP, Heartsongs. The 5-song EP is full of punk rock anthems that immediately bring to mind Against Me! and The Gaslight Anthem, while repeat listens allow you to hear the melodies of the best tracks from The Loved Ones and the hooks and pop sensibility of The Exploding Hearts.
Self-described as “rock n roll dog-toothed snarl, reckless, romantic, drunken, streetlight punk rock poetry from Atlanta, Georgia”, Aree found himself writing these songs in the early morning hours on the streets and in parking lots while his family slept until he’d come home just before sunrise.
Aree & The Pure Heart are already hard at work on the first full length and Aree is excited to share more of his story with the world.heart-logo

Rhino 39 – The Sound of Original LA Punk

Screen Shot 2016-03-02 at 7.56.54 PMFour Neighborhood pals got together in 1977 heavily influenced by the earliest budding LA punk scene. They called themselves Rhino 39. The band would practice on their broken down gear by day, hit the Hollywood clubs at night then top it off with an early morning after-party at the condemned Masque underground punk club.  They were the last band to record for the infamous Dangerhouse record label and first band to release an LP with the now influential XXX Records.

If asked, the guys will fondly recall their punk rock memories, and the great bands with whom they shared the stage. From the time they played Black Flags first show,  destroyed the Whiskey with Black Randy and the Metro Squad, the nights the Go-Gos would open the show, Jack Grisham’s (TSOL) living room, a backyard party with the Offspring, a drunken desert outpost with the original Sublime, and to have played the very first show promoted by Goldenvoice.

rhino39In 2014, Rhino 39 , got back together to play a reunion show featuring many of the other Dangerhouse bands, such as the Weirdos, Alleycats, and Avengers.

Now, with just three original members, the band is currently working on a new full length album; going into the studio mid 2016 — this will be the bands first album since 1986!

Tiger Army – Releases New Video “Prisoner of the Night” , New Album ‘V •••–’ & Announce Tour

Los Angeles-based rock ‘n roll band TIGER ARMY have released “Prisoner of the Night,” the first track off their much-anticipated new album, V •••–  (LunaTone/Rise), release date TBA.  Produced and mixed by Grammy winner Ted Hutt (Old Crow Medicine Show, The Gaslight Anthem, Dropkick Murphys) and featuring Tiger Army vocalist/guitarist Nick 13, acclaimed bassist Dave Roe (Johnny Cash, Ray Lamontagne, Dan Auerbach) and drummer Mitch Marine (Dwight Yoakum).

About the track and how it fits into the band’s set, Nick 13 says,

Our sound has always been about a mix of old and new. But this song, like others on the new record, draws from the early ‘60s. It was a transitional period after the end of rock ‘n’ roll’s first wave, but prior to the British invasion. There was a lot of sonic experimentation as people tried to figure out ‘what’s next’?  Radio singles of that era also went on to influence early NYC punk, so ‘Prisoner’ plays with that as well.

The Utah Punk Scene

In Ogden, Utah there is an emerging punk scene forming like a hurricane with two prominent bands exploding in the underground and forming a place for punk rock in Utah, again.

The two bands are Version Two and HiFi Murder. These bands are pioneering the way for the revamping of what seemed to be lost since SLC punk arrived into our TV and our lives many years ago.

Version Two and HiFi Murder set Ogden on the map and change the mormon stigma that has seemed to generate in our minds when the state is brought into any conversation relating to music. The music is fast, loud, punk, and hardcore all blended in together, making the unique sound we’ve been craving.

The Pukes | Raise Money From New Single “Exams†” For Rock ’N’ Roll Rescue

The Pukes by Mark Richards 1Punk ukulele band, The Pukes, are releasing a Christmas single to help raise money for Camden charity Rock ’N’ Roll Rescue. The cheeky new track, titled Exmas†, is a festive ditty written in sympathy with all the parents who will be putting up with their ex on Christmas Day for the sake of the kids.

Profits from the sale of the single will go to Rock ‘N’ Roll Rescue, a charity, set up by Knox Carnochan, original frontman of 77 punk stars, The Vibrators.

Rock ‘N’ Roll Rescue was set up by Carnochan earlier this year with the aim of helping people “at the bottom of the welfare system”. So far they’ve helped the Camden branch of The Trussell Trust foodbank as well as Food For All, a charity, which provides food for homeless people in the area.

The Pukes hope the song will raise cash for Rock ‘N’ Roll Rescue where several members of the band volunteer in their spare time. The Camden based charity shop sells musical instruments and equipment, records, CDs, cassettes, clothing and memorabilia. They offer an instrument and audio equipment repair service and host gigs, workshops and other events.

Joey Cape | New Album ‘Stitch Puppy’ & 2015 Canadian Tour

_MG_4214Joey Cape will be the first to tell you that the past few years haven’t exactly been the easiest on him. Of course, there’s the problems that affect many an aging punk.

Joey Cape is closing in on 50, and it’s not like there’s a pension plan for punk rock—but then there are the permanent departures that continue to mount as a scene that was built on the “live fast, die young” mantra is now losing some of its finest members.

Joey Cape has released a  new solo album ‘Stitch Puppy’

Released on September 4, 2015.

The album ‘Stitch Puppy’ Joey Cape explains:

I’m excited to be announcing the release of my new solo album Stitch Puppy. It’s been almost 5 years since the last solo full length was released so it feels long overdue. Stitch Puppy was inspired by a doll my daughter made me a few years back. It’s a sort of Victorian mourning doll. Stitch is my most prized possession. Put it this way, if my house were to burn down, after my family and the animals, Stitch would be top priority. My idea to wear his costume stems from years of thinking of him as some representation of purity, loss and the strength that follows. Stitch Puppy seems to be alone, which is the way it feels to mourn the loss someone you love or to be abandoned, stood up. We are all disappointed by life’s disloyalties and losses but somehow the wiser for them. We transform from victim to guide. We are witness to these things and the beauty in between. That’s it. That’s how I see Stitch Puppy. Not defeated. Simply the wise witness I aim to be.

Documentary Film | Salad Days: A Decade of Punk in Washington, DC (1980-90)

The critically acclaimed documentary chronicling the rise of punk rock in Washington, DC.

Scott Crawford and Jim Saah’s Salad Days: A Decade of Punk In Washington, DC (1980-90) has been selling out screenings in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Seattle, Chicago, and more. The documentary film that examines the early DIY punk scene in the Nation’s Capital. It was a decade when seminal bands like Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Government Issue, Scream, Void, Faith, Rites of Spring, Marginal Man, Fugazi, and others released their own records and booked their own shows-without major record label constraints or mainstream media scrutiny.
Contextually, it was a cultural watershed that predated the alternative music explosion of the 1990s (and the industry’s subsequent implosion). Thirty years later, DC’s original DIY punk spirit serves as a reminder of the hopefulness of youth, the power of community, and the strength of conviction.
Director/writer, Scott Crawford, is a music journalist, musician, and graphic designer. As a teenager in the DC suburbs, he started a fanzine called Metrozine that documented much of what was happening in the DC hardcore punk scene in the 1980s.

Crawford stated;

“The DC punk music scene that I grew up with in the 1980s has always been a big part of who I am. I interviewed a lot of these bands for the first time over 30 years ago while doing a fanzine. Approaching them all again decades later offered a type of perspective and reflection that I wanted to capture in a film.”

On a side note, OBEY and Shepard Fairey were heavily influenced by the DC hardcore scene. Shepard has used numerous DC hardcore legends such as Ian Mackaye of Minor Threat and Fugazi, Henry Rollins of State of Alert and Black Flag, and Bad Brains in his artwork. When hearing that Crawford and Saah were planning a West Coast release of their film, OBEY, wanted to get involved.
Set for release on DVD September 18, 2015. Stream the documentary now via Vimeo

Quick Facts:
Salad Days reached its Kickstarter goal in 6 days.

La Grande Bouffe, the most famous film by Italian provocateur Marco Ferreri (Dillinger is Dead), La Grande Bouffe was reviled on release for its perversity, decadence and attack on the bourgeoisie yet won the prestigious FIPRESCI prize after its controversial screening at the Cannes Film Festival.

Four friends, played by international superstars Marcello Mastroianni (Fellini’s 8½), Michel Piccoli (Belle de jour), Ugo Tognazzi (Barbarella) and Philippe Noiret (Zazie dans le métro) retreat to a country mansion where they determine to eat themselves to death whilst engaging in group sex with prostitutes and a local school teacher (Andréa Ferréol, The Tin Drum), who seems to be up for anything. At once jovial and sinister, the film’s jet-black humor has a further twist as the reputed actors (whose characters use their own names) buck their respectable trend for a descent into fart-filled chaos that delivers a feast for the eyes and mind.

* Brand new 2K restoration of the original camera negative

* High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) and Standard Definition DVD presentation

* Extracts from the television series Couleurs autour d’un festival featuring interviews with the cast and crew recorded during the Cannes Film Festival

Blood Rage is what do you get if you combine Thanksgiving, American TV star Louise Lasser (Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman), killer 80s synths and some of the most gruesome special effects in all of slasher history courtesy of Ed (Terminator 2) French. Why, it’s Blood Rage of course!

Todd and Terry seem like sweet kids – that is, until one of them takes an axe to face of a fellow patron at the local drive-in. Todd is blamed for the bloody crime and institutionalized, whilst twin brother Terry goes free. Ten years later and, as the family gathers around the table for a Thanksgiving meal, the news comes in that Todd has escaped – and he’s heading their way. But has the killer twin in fact been in their midst all along? One thing’s for sure, there WILL be blood. Filmed in 1983 at the tail-end of the slasher golden era but not released until 1987, Blood Rage (also re-cut and released to theatres as Nightmare at Shadow Woods) has been lovingly restored from the original vault materials for its first ever appearance on Blu-ray and DVD. Happy Thankskilling!

* Brand new 2K restoration from original vault materials of three versions of the film: Blood Rage, the original “hard” version, completely uncut and uncensored in a Blu-ray/DVD world premiere; the R-rated Nightmare at Shadow Woods 1987 re-cut, and a third “composite” cut combining all the footage from both Blood Rage and Nightmare at Shadow Woods

* High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) and Standard Definition DVD presentations

* Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing

* Brand new extensive making-of documentary featuring interviews with various cast and crew

* Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork from Marc Schoenbach, to be revealed

Los and The Deadlines Release EP ‘Perfect Holiday’

PromoImage2The epitomes of art-rock, Los and The Deadlines utilize clichés to convey their message through their broad-ranging sound, which encompasses grunge, stoner rock, noise rock, punk and sludge with members Alex LoSardo – Vocals/Guitar, Niels Bakx – Guitar, Rotem Haguel – Bass/ Backing Vocals, and Alberto Voglino – Drums

The band’s ‘Perfect Holiday’ EP explores the absurdities of western civilization by contrasting the reality of an urban, deprecating society and its opposing depiction in the mass media. This incongruence is described not only through tongue in cheek lyrics but also through music where there is an ever-present competition between noise and melody through thrashing riffs and thumping rhythms.

The EP cover art, an out-of-focus photo of an almost demolished building in London, exhibits the ‘dirty’ aspects of city life; a tacky yellow background provoking a tangible sense of discomfort. The album title “Perfect Holiday” is an irony that emphasizes the contrast between the object and its image or myth. PromoImage

Alex LoSardo, describes the bands origin, stating:

“The seedy underbelly of any major city spawns some of the most depraved and morally reprehensible dregs of society who seek one another out to join in a range of dubious behaviors, making music being one of them.”
